Nigeria Yet to Begin Camping

It is due to financial difficulties as the State is yet to disburse subventions.

 

Contrary to their habit, Nigeria is yet to begin camping for the upcoming 2016 Women AFCON. According to the secretary General of the federation, Dr Mohamed Sanussi, the authorities are conscious of the delay and reassured that measures were being taken to begin preparations. Pundits say this is owing to the dwindling resources of the State which usually offers subventions to the federation due to the drop in the price of oil in the world market.

 More so, most of the players of the national selection are engaged with their respective clubs in Europe and if the training camp were to begin today, only home-based players will be able to respond present.

Meanwhile the newly appointed coach of the Super Falcons, Omagbemi has declared that only players who prove their mettle and are physically fit will be retained for the expedition to Cameroon. “As defending champions, we will be the team to beat,” she said. “We are therefore not going to take any team lightly...
