Unity Palace: Total Communion At East Wing

First Lady Chantal Biya on January 5, 2018 recieved New Year wishes from wives of members of the diplomatic corps, those of national  dignitairies and specialised groups.

The Unity Palace was once more in a festive mood on Friday, January 5, 2018 as Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya received New Year wishes from wives of members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Cameroon, wives of national dignitaries and special groups.

It was a continuous feast this time around in the East Wing of the Unity Palace as it came after the Head of State, President Paul Biya on January 4, 2018 received New Year wishes from members of the diplomatic corps and from the national dignitaries.

In all, First Lady Chantal Biya received 26 different delegations. In respect of the New Year wishes tradition, she first of all received the wishes from the wives of members of the diplomatic corps led by Madam Biffot, wife of the Ambassador of Gabon to Cameroon, Paul Patrick Biffot who is dean of the diplomatic corps.

This phase that lasted for some 30 minutes was special as the First Lady did not only hug, shake hands and took memorable photographs with each of the delegation members, she took off time to chat with them.

Chantal Biya besides taking some group photographs with the wives of members of the diplomatic corps also shared pleasantries and drinks with them. In the next phase, First Lady Chantal Biya shook hands, took photographs and from time to time chatted with each member of the 25 delegations of wives of national dignitaries and specialized groups. Niat Marcie, the wife of the President of the Senate, Marcel Niat Njifenji set the ball rolling for this phase as she led the delegation of wives of bureau members of the Senate.
