Molyko Stadium Work 95 Percent

Less than 40 days to the November Female AFCON, architects and contractors are working to meet up with this October 17 deadline.


The countdown to the Female African Football Cup of Nations, AFCON, is fast approaching and the projects which had to be done in preparations for this tournament are getting to completion. The Molyko Omnisports stadium in Buea, being renovated as a training ground, is about 95 percent completed as confirmed by the Regional Delegate of Sports and Physical Education for the South West, Ekema Abel.

Visiting the magnificent playground 28 September, it was clear that what was formerly a village field is now attractive architectural piece. Spectators who will jam the stadium next November to watch training sessions of the female African teams will be amazed at its transformation. The play ground, the sitting area, the entrance, and the lighting are all futuristic. Workers at the site are burning midnight candles to make sure that the jewel is ready by deadline as per the contractual terms.

The renovation on the Molyko stadium has attracted many visits by Government Ministers in recent time that were eager to ensure that the works were completed in the stipulated time. The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mpkatt, has been closely overseeing the work, giving directives on efficient execution.
