International Cooperation: Socio-political Issues Discussed At MINREX

The resident Coordinator of the UN System in Cameroon as well as the Israeli and Chinese Ambassadors yesterday had dialogues with Minister Mbella Mbella.

The Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella on February 22, 2018 granted three separate audiences to diplomatic representatives during which cooperation ties and other socio-political subjects were examined.

They were the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cameroon, Allegra Maria Del Pilar Baiocchi, the Israeli Ambassador to Cameroon, Ran Gidor and the Ambassador of the Peoples’ Republic of China to Cameroon, Wei Wenhua.

Talking to the press after the audience, Allegra Baiocchi said her exchange with the External Relations Minister involved sustained collaboration between the UN and Cameroon, humanitarian, social and political issues in the country.

“This is my first exchange with the Minister for the year, and we looked at the work that the United Nations is planning to do in the course of 2018 as per supporting Cameroon for the continuous humanitarian situation in the Far North and East regions.

We looked at solutions on how we can help in hosting thousands of refugees and facilitate return movements especially for internally displaced persons. We equally talked about development and how the UN can continue to assist Cameroon as it pushes towards its vision of emergence and attaining the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, which the country adopted and put in place a plan of action,” she stated.
