Kumba: Campaign Hub For South West

Crusades for March 25 senatorial polling enter the second and last week today.

In the South West Region, each protagonist is pulling the blanket to their side as party meetings were held in Buea and Kumba during the week-end. Kumba City, one of the six administrative divisional capitals of the Region played host to meetings between candidates and voters. 

The seven-candidate list of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) launched their campaigns at the Buea Mountain Hotel close to weekend with their regional party leader, Peter Mafany Musonge, who sounded the bell of best CPDM stewardship. Their majority seats in the South West 31 councils with 769 on 887 remain their trump card.

The Social Democratic Front (SDF) candidates, eager to sit in the Senate this time on the South West Regional ticket gathered in Kumba, Meme Divisional capital, yesterday (Sunday) under Ndobegang, their Regional chair, to distribute campaign logistics and also strategize to outplay their opponents.

They had earlier mapped out tactics at a meeting in their party’s regional headquarters in Wotolo-Buea in the first week of campaigns. The SDF mustered only 114 seats in South West Councils in the ending tenure.

But their senatorial list head, Professor Ndiva Kofele-Kale, believes that in politics one never lays down tools without turning both sides of the democracy coin which are victory or defeat. The learned Internat...
