CAR: AfDB Offers 2 Billion FCFA

The Central African Republic, CAR, has been granted 22,1 billion FCFA to fund an optic fibre project that covers the sub-region, news agency announced on June 5, 2018. The deal was signed in Busan, South Korea by Félix Moloua, CAR’s Minister for Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, and Ousmane Doré, Director General of the Regional Office for Development and AfDB Affairs during the bank’s 53rd annual assembly from May 21-25, 2018.

The project includes laying over 1,000 km of optic cables to link Cameroon and Congo Brazzaville, creating a national data centre, 20 community digital centres, a digital training centre and setting up an enterprise incubator in the University of Bangui.
