Finance Law For 2019: MPs Trained on New Examination, Adoption Methods

A training seminar took place at the National Assembly on November 16, 2018.

Members of the National Assembly will beginning this week, examine bill N° 104/PJL/AN Financial Bill of the Republic of Cameroon for 2019 financial year in which is contained the State budget for the 2019 financial year with more effectiveness and efficiency. They will be called upon to vote the budget that will see the strengthening of governance and transparency in public finance management.

The innovations in the public finance management are contained in Law N° 2018/ 011 of July 2018 to lay down the Cameroon Code of Transparency and Good Governance in Public Finance Management and Law N°2018/ 012 of 11 July 2018 relating to the fiscal regime of the State and other public entities. The Finance Bill of Cameroon for the 2019 is based on the two laws.

It was in order to get the MPs abreast with the inno vations that the National Assembly organised the training seminar with experts from the Ministry of Finance led by the Director General of the Budget, Cyrille Edou.

The Senior Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Hilarion Etong who chaired the seminar on behalf of the House Speaker, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril said the training seminar was timely on two fronts. Firstly, it came at the time MPs were bracing up to examine and adopt the Finance bill on the State budget for 2019 financial year. Secondly, he said, the training came at the time President Paul Biya was beginning a new term of office referred to as that of “Great Opportunities” with good governance and transparency in public finance management as some of the key pillars.
