The Super Falcons of Nigeria have once more demonstrated their superiority in women football on the continent. They beat the Banyana Banyana of South Africa 4-3 after penalty kicks in the final at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday December 1, 2018 to clinch the continental trophy. It was a tough encounter that kept spectators on their feet shouting and cheering the layers. Prior to the encounter, Nigerian fans dressed in their national colours thronged the venue with songs and dancing to cheer the players. The brass band of the Die-Hard Supporters Union of Ghana was present to encourage the teams. For many fans, the victory was a revenge for the Nigerians who lost to the South Africans in their first outing.

The Nigerians began the game well, putting pressure on the South Africans but they lost their scoring chances. The South Africans put up a strong fight creating panic in the Nigerian defence but they did not materialise their chances. At half time, the score line was 0-0.
