PM Gives Stimulus

After presiding over the solemn opening ceremony of the international trade exhibition, the Head of Government will on Wednesday pay a courtesy visit to all stands

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has encouraged enterprises taking part in the 7th edition of the international trade fair, PROMOTE, to take advantage of the opportunities inherent in Cameroon.

He was speaking yesterday at the Yaounde Conference Centre during the solemn opening ceremony of the nineday fair which kicked off on Saturday February 16, 2019. PM Ngute said Cameroon finds itself in a strategic position on the continent; being the junction between West and Central Africa.

According to the Head of Government, the country is endowed with an industrial fabric which is growing richer and richer by the day. “It is the land par excellence for investment,” the Prime Minister underscored. For his part, the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana pointed out the importance of business men, both foreign and local to seal big deals. “The attractiveness of Cameroon is a reality with the presence of many foreign enterprises [at PROMOTE],” Minister Mbarga Atangana said.

Speakers at Monday’s ‘Day of Officials’ harped on the need for inclusive growth and sustainable development. The Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cameroon, Allegra Maria Del Pilar Baiocchi urged companies to do business responsibly, respecting UN guidelines.

She noted that Cameroon faces important environmental, economic and social challenges, but the Sustainable Development Goals to which the country has adhered is a sure way of responding to the challenges. Allegra called on investors to take action as it was time for business.
