2018 World Cup: The Long Road To Russia

The noose is tightening on Cameroon’s Lions en route to the 2018 World Cup.

 

Cameroon’s road to Russia 2018 is, however, narrowing down with their bone–to-bone draw against Zambia last Saturday in the Limbe Omnisports Stadium. Nigeria continues to lead their Group”B” with six points after the second playing day. Only one team will qualify from the group of four as the African continent was zoned into five pools to produce five representatives at the world cup.

The race to 2018 World Cup finals billed for Russia from 14 June through 15 July, 2018, appears to drain more sweat from Cameroon. Their group with Nigeria, Algeria, and Zambia was rated by football pundits as one of the toughest. The Lions will need to develop very large shoulders to carry the rest of the matches with assurance. Following last Saturday’s disappointing 1-1 tie with Zambia’s Chipolopolos, Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions have however maintained their invincibility on the Limbe Omnisports Stadium since 26 March this year when they opened the facility with a 2-2 draw against South Africa.

After Saturday’s second playing day in Group “B”, Cameroon counts two points ahead of Algeria and Zambia, one each, but far behind Nigeria who made a 3-1 home-win over Algeria last Saturday to record two successive victories after crushing Zambia on the first playing day.
