Women Afrobasket: Qualifiers Competition Kicks Off

The zone IV qualifiers for the 2019 Women Afrobasket tournament kicked off in Yaounde on Saturday May 4, 2019. Two countries are taking part in the competition. They are Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two teams are competing for a place in the 24th edition of the Women Afrobasket championship which will take place from August 18 to 25, 2019. The competition took place in an away and return format. In the opening game on Saturday, May 4, 2019, the national women’s basketball team beat the Democratic Republic of Congo 91-46 to secure a comfortable spot on the classification table. At press time yesterday the second game was still going on. FIBA Africa is yet to announce the host for the final tournament.
