African Athletics Confederation : Officials Brace Up For Elective General Assembly

An Executive Bureau meeting of the Confederation of African Athletics took place in Yaounde on Wednesday August 15, 2019.

The Elective General Assembly of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) will take place on September 24 to 26, 2019 in Doha, Qatar. Ahead of this important event, an Executive Bureau meeting of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) took place in Yaounde on Wednesday August 15, 2019. Present at the meeting was the President of the CAA, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum from Cameroon, the Director General Fati Lamine from Senegal and presidents of the five zones. During the meeting, the members discussed members discussed three major issues. The first point was the preparation of the African continent for the upcoming Elective General Assembly of the IAAF in September. According to the officials, they have the duty to unite Africa for a common goal in the Elective General assembly. During the Elective General Assembly, Africa will be vying for a post of vice president and seats in the council of the IAAF. The President of CAA, Kalkaba Malboum said Africa has to prepare strategies to have best candidates. The members also discussed on how to develop strategies to better sell the products of the CAA. Concerning the aspect of marketing, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum said a Spanish brand “Vanquish” has been chosen for that task.
