Youth Football : Semences Olympiques Tournament Kicks Off

Over 300 young footballers from football training centres in the country are taking part in the competition that began in Odza yesterday December 26, 2019.

The 59th edition of the football tournament called Noël Semences Olympiques kicked off yesterday December 26, 2019 at the CAF Technical Centre in Odza, Yaounde.  Organised by the Semences Olympiques Football Training Centre, the competition brings together over 300 young footballers from football training centres in the country. A total of 21 teams are taking part in this year’s tournament. This year’s competition will serve as part of activities to mark the 20th anniversary of Semences Olympiques that comes up in July 2020. 
At the FECAFOOT Training Centre yesterday the atmosphere was calm. The different teams concerned were already at the CAF Training Centre as early as 8:00 a.m. waiting for the competition to begin. The games started at 8:30 a.m. under the auspices of experienced football technicians.  For four days the players between the ages of 8 to 17 years will display rich talents in football. The competition will unfold in five categories. These are the U-8, U-10, U-12, U-15 and the U-17 categories. There are four clubs per category and each club will play three matches daily. Matches take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 3:00 p.m. for the cadet category.
