The announcement of the hosting of competition in Cameroon has served as an opportunity for some fake individuals to extort money from people.
The sixth edition of the Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) will take place in Cameroon from April 4 to 25, 2020. Ahead of this important event preparations have reached fever pitch in the country. Organisers are living no stone unturned to ensure a successful feast.
The announcement of the hosting of sixth edition the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) has served as an opportunity for some scammers to begin manipulating the public. Recently some individuals who claim to be proprietors of job employment agencies have been publishing press releases proposing job offers to youths for the CHAN 2020.
In a recent release titled COCAN 2020/2021 recruitments, it was stated that a certain company was looking for staff for fixed term-work of the total CHAN 2020 in the Japoma Stadium and Bonamoussadi adjoining stadium and other adjoining stadiums in the city of Douala. The company is proposing employment for 150 people in diverse domains with salaries ranging from FCFA 50, 000 to FCFA 120,000. The deadline for the submission of files is November 12, 2020 at specific hours. Apart from salary paid jobs, some agencies propose the recruitment of volunteers for the CHAN. Such recruitments are carried out by the people who are out to enrich themselves in the name of CHAN 2020.
It should be noted that the Local Organising Committee of CHAN 2020 had earlier castigated such job offers describing them as fake. This notwithstanding, the practice is still going on with the aim of extorting money from people. The public is therefore advised to consult the COCAN website (www.cocan2021) to acquaint themselves with all available information on the CHAN 2020.
