Cameroon-US Cooperation : Health Achievements Lauded

The Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on June 15, 2021 had discussions with the outgoing Chargé d’Affaires a.i of the United States of America to Cameroon.

The outgoing Chargé d’Affaire  a.i of the United States of America to Cameroon, (acting Ambassador) Vernelle Trim FitzPatrick has lauded the long standing cooperation ties between her country and Cameroon singling out the health sector.
She spoke to the press in Yaounde on June 15, 2021 after a farewell audience with the Speaker of Cameroon’s National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.  On the focus of their discussions, Vernelle Trim FitzPatrick said they talked about what the United States of America was doing in Cameroon, especially in the areas of health, humanitarian actions, promotion of trade between the two countries and the achievement of peace in Cameroon.
Concerning the health sector, she said, “We talked about what the US was doing to invest not only in the health sector but also to provide assistance to Cameroon in the fight against Covid-19 both bilaterally and multilaterally.” She said the US has been cooperating with the Public Health Ministry of Cameroon and disclosed that they have many experts who are working hand- in-hand with their Cameroonian counterparts in the fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria and other infectious diseases.
