Special Criminal Court: Examination-in-Chief Of Bekolo Ebe Continues

The main accused, in an hour court session yesterday January 25, 2022 explained how he managed some FCFA 10,168,120 and FCFA 21,850,909.

The Special Criminal Court (SCC) in Yaounde, yesterday January 25, 2022 continued with the examination-in-chief of Bekolo Ebe Bruno, former Reactor of the University of Douala. He is standing trial in the case: the People of Cameroon and the State of Cameroon (The University of Douala) against Bekolo Ebe Bruno, Akumah Reuben Fon, Mboudou Augustine Marie, Opkem Jean Pierre and Ahina Ohandja Louis Max. They are accused of misappropriation of public funds and accessory.  
During yesterday’s public court session, Bekolo Ebe Bruno answered questions to justify his expenditure of FCFA 21,850,909 and FCFA 10,168,120. The court says Mr Bekolo’s payment of FCFA 21,850,909 as bonuses did not respect the rules as well as the payment of FCFA 10,168,120 which represents irregularities in tax payment. The head of the college of Judges, Gabriel Iroume adjourned the session for further hearing on February 2 and 16 for Mr Bekolo to answer more questions about his management of State funds during his period as Rector of the University of Douala. During the session, Andre Tchoussi represented the Legal Department while Ngo Minyem Bakang Eugenie Florence and Luma Betty Lickowo Mwambo, constituted part of the college of judges.
