Infrastructure: Remarkable Success

If there is one thing that contributes to the success of any sporting event, it should be the quality of infrastructure used in hosting the competition. Cameroon should therefore be measuring its success in the organisation of the just-ended 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) thanks to the modern infrastructure newly constructed and or rehabilitated to host the prestigious competition.
The competition was played in five different cities and in six different stadiums, not forgetting the up-to-date training grounds to help the teams brace up. These infrastructure, it is said, met up, if not went beyond the minimum requirements stated by CAF to host the continental showpiece. In the Yaounde site for example, the 60,000 capacity newly-constructed Olembe jewel is one of those infrastructure that will be forever remembered by delegations and supporters who had the opportunity to troop into the complex. The well designed pitch, dressing rooms, lighting system amongst others caught the attention of many. In Yaounde again, the highly rehabilitated Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium met expectations. Though the oldest stadium in the country, the rehabilitation works done on the pitch, conference room, media centre, dressing rooms and other major compartments of the sports infrastructure made it bright and appealing.
