CAF Super League Taking Shape

The African Super League is taking shape already in Africa. A total of 24 teams will take part in the competition to be organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This is the outcome of a meeting between CAF officials and presidents of top African clubs and the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, that took place in Douala on February 5, 2022.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of CAF, Patrice Motsepe said the institution wants that the African Super League will be able to compete with the best tournaments in the world in terms of quality football, means, stadium infrastructure, refereeing, among others. Information from footmecato web site indicates, CAF intends to create the Super League by putting in place three regional pools. These will be North Africa, West and Central Africa and South and East African regions. Each region will have a pool of eight teams. That will make 24 participating teams.
