Professional Football : Resumption Date Still Awaited

Despite the delay, the different clubs are preparing hard for a successful season even though no one seems to have an idea of when it will effectively begin.

The kick off date for the national 2021/2022 football season continues to remain a myth as no fixed date has been set till date. Many football lovers in the country are still wondering what must have been the reason for the delayed takeoff of the national football championship given the many international competitions lie ahead. 
During a meeting between club presidents through their association with the management of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) that took place on December 4, 2021 in the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo, the members agreed on the date and format of the national championship. The new season was expected to begin on February 21, 2022. It was also agreed that the national Elite One championship will be staged with 25 clubs with two pools. The three bottom teams will be relegated to second division next season. Meanwhile the Elite Two championship will have 14 teams and the second place teams will get promotion to the Elite One championship. 
Since after the AFCON, the resumption date is still not yet known. This notwithstanding, the different clubs are preparing hard ahead of the resumption even though no one seems to have an idea of the reopening date. Some teams have already carried out their recruitments and training is the other of the day in all the clubs.
