Cameroon-OIC : Promoting Peace Amongst Member States

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on March 4, 2022 received the Secretary General of the intergovernmental organisation.

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief/Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute on March 4, 2022 received in audience the 12th and current Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha during which both personalities exchanged on issues of mutual interest. Promoting peace and harmony amongst member States, fighting terrorism and solidarity in tackling common challenges within the OIC are some of the issues Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute discussed with the Chadian-born diplomat who was on a working visit to Cameroon. 
In his statement to the press after the audience, Hissein Brahim Taha said he came to Cameroon to express his gratitude for the attachment of Cameroonian authorities to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. “Following our relations with Cameroon, we wanted to pay homage to a country that always supports us. As concerns cooperation between OIC member States, we count 57 countries, from the Sahel of Africa to Afghanistan. And when you look at these regions, you will notice that there is so much destabilization following the presence of Jihadists and Cameroon has security knowledge on the fight against Jihadists. All this makes a priority in our mandate which consists in the fight against terrorism, promoting unity amongst member States of OIC because there exist conflicts within member States. We have to do everything to reduce tensions amongst members of the organisation,” he stated.
