New Format For Lasting Solution

The modification is aimed at producing the champion of Cameroon before June 30, 2022 and also to surmount challenges facing Cameroon football.

A new format for the 2021-2022 football season was the result of an important consultation meeting involving FECAFOOT, the Transitional Council for Professional Football (CTFP) and the presidents of professional clubs of the MTN Elite One Championship that took place at the headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in Yaounde on Monday March 14, 2022. The meeting aimed at producing the champion of Cameroon before June 30, 2022, the deadline set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to present the representatives in African inter-club competitions for the next season.
During the meeting, the main aspects of the competition were clearly defined. This season, the MTN Elite One Championship will be played in two sub pools of 12 and 13 clubs respectively.  In order to respect the deadlines set by CAF, it was decided that the groupings will be held in the cities of Yaounde, Douala, Bafoussam and Limbe. At the end of the group stage of the championship, the clubs ranked first and second in each group will play each other in one-way crossover matches as follows: first in group A against second in group B, first in group B against second in group A.
