Assistance To Displaced People: Training Organized In Income Generation

The second phase of training for Internally-displaced Persons, IDPs and girl-mothers has gone underway in Fongo-Tongo, Menoua Division.

The training for people displaced by the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions was launched in Fongo-Tongo, Menoua Division of West Region on March 17, 2022. Organized by the Women International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) Cameroon, the training will last eight days. Some vulnerable 70 IDP women and 30 girl-mothers are taking part in the skills acquisition training.
Addressing both the resource persons and participants, the National President of WILPF-Cameroon, Mrs. Sylvie Jacqueline Ndongmo, revealed that some 240 IDPs and girl-mothers in Dschang Central and Nkongni Subdivisions were already engaged in income generating activities. They acquired knowledge and skills in the production of cassava flour, liquid soap, menthol, fish smoking, mushroom cultivation, snail and rabbit farming.
She said Fongo-Tongo as site for the launch was important because it shares boundaries with North West and South West Regions that are undergoing socio-political crisis.
