Sports For Development and Peace : Experts Brainstorm On Innovative Ideas

A round table to mark the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace took place at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex yesterday April 6, 2022.

The contribution of sports in human development in every society cannot be underestimated. It is in this light that a roundtable conference took place at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex yesterday April 6, 2022 under the theme: “Contribution of sports to human development, healthy lifestyles and a peaceful world.” The round table was part of activities to mark the 9th edition of the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace. The event took place with the participation of the National Commission of UNESCO.
The audience listened to presentations from experts from the education and sports sector with Emmanuel Wonyu, Associate Professor, Lecturer at the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC) as moderator. In one of the presentations, Dr Wirngo Tani Ernestine, (ENS) Yaounde look at the contribution of sports in human development. Sports is a driving force to human development. In that she looked at the physical, cognitive, pysco-social and moral developments. At the level of physical development she said physical development is an aspect which helps people to live well. “A nation that develops relies on healthy people and so sports contribute to that wellness in the physical domain,” she said.
