Everything seems to be turning around for good for Egyptian goalkeeper, Essam El Hadary. At 44, the football legend has become the oldest player to take part in the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Even though he went to the AFCON Gabon 2017 as a replacement player, Essam El Hadary finally became a full player on Tuesday January 17, 2017 when he replaced first choice goal goalkeeper, Ahmed El-Shannawy, at the 25th minute following an injury during their encounter against Mali on Tuesday January 17, 2017 at ongoing AFCON 2017.
The veteran goalkeeper has therefore broken the record of his former team mate, Hossam Hassan who was the oldest player who participated in an Africa Cup of Nations at the 39.
