Cameroonian Journalists Flood Media Landscape

Majority of them are based in Libreville and are seen in all the nooks and crannies of the city in search of information.

The media are playing an important role of informing, educating and entertaining football lovers in Africa and the world on happenings at the 2017 AFCON in Gabon. Journalists from Africa and elsewhere on the planet are in Gabon to cover the greatest sports event on the continent.
What has caught the attention of many is the huge presence of Cameroonian journalists in Gabon. Cameroonian journalists appear to be the largest media group covering the tournament. At the media centre in the Stade de L’Amitié Sino-Gabonese which has been specially set up for journalists, Cameroonian journalists occupy a whole section. It is only after taking a close look that one can notice other media organs like RFI, BBC, and France 24, among others dotted in some corners in the centre. How did Cameroonian journalists find their way into Gabon is the million questions on the lips of many observers.
Janvier Njikam, President of the Cameroon Sports Journalists Association for the Centre Region told Cameroon Tribune that he led a group of nine journalists under the cover of the association by road from Yaounde to Libreville. On arrival they realised that there was already quite a good number of Cameroonian journalists in Gabon. He said his delegation met with a group of 27 journalists from CRTV led by the Director of Information CRTV, Alain Belibi. Apart from that there was a team from CRTV which had earlier arrived in Libreville. This makes a total of over 30 reporters from CRTV that arrived in Gabon.
