Cameroon-UNHCR : Cooperation In Refugees Management Celebrated

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on April 26, 2022 offered an official dinner on behalf of the President of the Republic to the visiting United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.


The official dinner Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute offered on behalf of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya to the visiting United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi on April 26, 2022 was an occasion to celebrate the growing cooperation ties between Cameroon and the UN structure.
Prime Minister Dion Ngute in the toast during the dinner at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel, stated that it was decided by President Paul Biya as a high mark of recognition of Filippo Grandi’s visit to Cameroon, as well as to serve as the occasion to celebrate the friendship and cooperation ties between Cameroon and the UNHCR in the management of refugees.  The Prime Minister used the occasion to express the gratitude of the Head of State to United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres which he requested the UNHCR boss to transmit.
Indeed, the dinner that came after Filippo Grandi’s discussions with several government officials was on the eve of the Regional Ministerial Conference on solutions in the context of forced displacement related to the Central African Republic crisis. The UNHCR boss was in Yaounde to attend the conference. The Head of Government disclosed that the conference was under the auspices of the Head of State. He said that at the end of the conference, there will be the Yaounde Declaration that will serve as a blueprint for the management of Central African refugees.
