Ascension of Jesus Christ : Vigilance Prescribed For Faithful

Christian, nationwide have commemorated the Ascension Day. According to the Christian calendar, Ascension Day is the 40th day of Easter. It occurs 39 days after Easter Sunday. It is a Christian holiday that commemorates Jesus Christ's ascension into heaven, according to Christian belief. The Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ is also called Ascension Thursday or sometimes Holy Thursday.
At the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church in Yaounde, worshippers gathered in a special bilingual church service to understand the true meaning of the Ascension Day and what is expected from them as followers of Jesus Christ. Presiding at the special church service was Pastor Maurice Yomsi. He edified Christians on the topic “Making a Difference: Standing on the Covenant”, while reading from the book of Acts 1:9-11.
After spending three days in the tomb, Jesus was resurrected. He appeared to many people, especially his disciples. He ate with them, he chatted with them, and he even walked with them. The Lord Jesus was about to return to the Father, having assembled his own, the Lord gave the final instructions and rose before them. It was certainly a very moving moment for his disciples who watched him as far as the eye could see. This day has been called Ascension Day. According to the preacher, Christians seem to give little importance to the day. Unlike Christmas and Easter, Ascension seems unimportant.
