2022 Women’s AFCON : Lionesses’ Second Training Camp On Course

They took off on June 7, 2022 at the FECAFOOT Technical Centre in Odza.

 
The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon have kicked-off a second training camp ahead of the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be staged in Morocco next month. They began training on June 7, 2022 and are expected to be in camp until June 20. 26 players were called up for the training with more professionals on the spotlight.
Looking at the list of players shortlisted for this training, Coach Zabo has gotten thumps up for some meanwhile other call ups have raised eyebrows. In the goal post for example, one can notice the presence of Ange Bawou who plays for Bayelsa Queens in Nigeria. She is currently the main goalkeeper of the Lionesses and the fact that she was named best goalkeeper of the Nigerian women’s championship this season makes her call up crucial. In the defence, one can find Falone Meffoumetou and Easther Mayi Kith, who both play in France. They have been very productive with the national team; thus their call up may just be a wise decision from Zabo. One could clearly notice the absence of defender Estelle Johnson who plays in Gotham FC. But it could be justified by the fact that the National Women’s Soccer League in USA is still ongoing.
