TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations : CAF Announces Increase In Prize Money

The President of the Confederation of African Football made the announcement few hours to the kick off of the 2022 edition in Morocco on July 2, 2022.

The prize money for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations has been increased by 150 per cent. The President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe made the announcement few hours to the kick off of the 2022 edition in Morocco on July 2, 2022. The opening game pitted Morocco against Burkina Faso at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. 
The adjustment of the prize money is in line with CAF’s new policy of making the women’s competition in Africa globally competitive. The overall prize money of the competition has been increased from USD 975 000 (FCFA 613, 296,450) to USD 1.5 billion (almost FCFA 943, 533,000). The President of CAF and the CAF Executive Committee have identified women’s football as amongst the top priorities of CAF in the next few years.
