Indomitable Lions Back On The Rails

Reaching the final of the competition is the goal set by the national football squad in AFCON 2017.

Four times African champions, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, will face the Black Stars of Ghana in the semi-finals of the Total Africa Cup of Nations GABON 2017 today in Franceville some 500km from the capital Libreville. It will be a decisive duel as both sides are desperate for a spot in the final.
Since the start of the competition the Lions have not ceased to surprise their fans. The Lions struggled to qualify for the AFCON 2017 after a series of draws and finished with six points in their group ahead of second-placed Mauritania. Cameroon won the AFCON in 1984, 1988, 2000 and 2002 and have been to more World Cups than any other African country. However, they have not been able to win a major trophy since 2002. They were absent in 2012 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea and 2013 in South Africa not forgetting the poor performance in the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa and 2014 in Brazil. Between 2010 and 2014 there has been some instability in the coaching bench and some players have retired from international competitions. With their participation at the 2015 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea the team entered the rebuilding phase which started from the presidential decree which regularised the management of the national football team. Today the results are obvious.
