US Unrelenting In Security Assistance

The United States of America has been stepping up military assistance to Cameroon to fight Boko Haram insurgents.

Cooperation ties between Cameroon and the United States of America are growing from strength to strength testified by frequent talks between President Paul Biya and the current USA Ambassador to Cameroon, Michael Stephen Hoza. The audience President Paul Biya granted the US diplomat at the Unity Palace in Yaounde on Thursday, February 2, 2017 marked another concrete step in the growing relations.
The United States of America has been a friend indeed and friend in need to Cameroon in the face of the ongoing war against the Boko Haram terrorist group in the Far North Region. The US government recently donated a consignment of military equipment and material to boost Cameroon’s security and morale in the war against the terrorist group. Besides the equipment, the US government also deployed 300 military experts who are conducting airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the war against Boko Haram. At the time of their deployment, former US President Barack Obama said, the troops would be "equipped with weapons for the purpose of providing their own force protection and security".
