Wetlands: Rich Biodiversity Worth preserving

Activities to commemorate the 20th edition of World Wetlands Day took place in Yaounde on February 2, 2017.

Officials of the Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development alongside the population of Yaounde IV Council area converged on the esplanade of the Ekounou Council to commemorate the 20th edition of World Wetlands Day on the theme “Wetlands for disaster risk reduction.”
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development, Patrick Akwa Kum Bong who chaired commemorative activities, not only is the preservation of wetlands important but also the sensitisation of all stakeholders on the rich biodiversity that constitute that ecosystem.
