Cameroon Month Against AIDS : African Synergy Sensitises Youths In Yaounde

An educative discussion on the theme, “HIV/AIDS and Social Media” grouped students from 70 different schools yesterday November 23, in Yaounde.

Some 70 students from different secondary schools in Yaounde and it’s environ have been called to wisely use different social media platforms to boost their studies rather than get involved in activities that can expose them to HIV. This was during an educative talk organised by the Pan-African NGO, African Synergy Against HIV and Suffering yesterday November 23, 2022 at the Lycée General –Leclerc in Yaounde. Discussions took place under the theme: “HIV/AIDS and Social Media.” This was in the presence of the Executive Secretary of African Synergy, Jean Stéphane Biatcha and the Principal of Lycée General –Leclerc in Yaounde.
The Head of the Communication Unit of African Synergy, Franklin Massango, said discussions were taking place within the 35th edition of the World AIDS Day and the 7th edition of the National AIDS week to be commemorated on December 1st on the themes, “Equalise” and “Act Together to Put an End to Equality” respectively. Franklin Massango said it is never enough to sensitise people on the HIV pandemic especially youth who are greatly affected. He told the students that there was need for them to have the right information on HIV/AIDS, so that they can effectively teach their mates and friends. After watching a video on how HIV is transmitted and prevented, the questions and answers session that took place revealed that the students were quite informed about the HIV pandemic.
