Yaounde : Fans Feeling Upbeat, But...

Anxiety is high amongst the people, as Cameroon drew level with Serbia yesterday, November 28, 2022.


Cameroonians in the Nation’s Capital yesterday November 28, 2022, expressed joy and a degree of satisfaction as their darling team, the Indomitable Lions played with the Serbian team in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar. In the different fan zones in Yaounde, the unfolding of the match brought out positive and negative energy from fans. At the end of the match, fans expressed hope in the team although the match finished in a 3-3 tie.
Ten minutes before the start of the match, the majority of the population in Yaounde gathered around a television set in various offices, snack bars and fan zones. Besides the popular fan zones such as that located at the Charles Atangana monument, some offices had been transformed into a fan zone in support of the Indomitable Lions. Such was the situation at the Cameroon Tribune newsroom as workers from different departments gathered at the newsroom in front of a television set.  
Driving along the streets, all sits in bars were occupied with everyone eager to have a glance of the match. At various fans zones, the usual eating and drinking had come to a halt. Everybody’s attention was fixed on the giant screen with a glimpse of hope. Some 30 minutes into the match, the pressure from fans reduced as Cameroon scored the first goal against its opponent. But, this was short-lived as the Serbians quickly equalised and later scored a second goal before half-time.
