North West : Wum Council Adopts Over 900M For 2023

The budget prioritizes investment and youth empowerment to give Wum a face lift.
The annual budget of the Wum Council for 2023 has been voted and it emerged from the session that 54.88 per cent of the said financial allocation will be devoted to investments. According to the Mayor of Wum Council, Dighambong Anthony Mvo, attention has carefully been given to investment in the 2023 budget in order to give a new face lift for Wum municipality, and to promote the cultural heritage of the area. He added that other areas such as health, education, agriculture, water and energy will not be neglected.
Amongst the lot earmarked for the Municipality in 2023, councillors agreed to purchase artefacts for the Wum Council museum, construct a block of two classrooms each at Government School (GS) Nyio, Tsakendze, and GS Kwen, supply 180 benches, six tables and six chairs to the aforementioned schools, construct a rest house and a restaurant, 32 market sheds in the Wum main market, construct a box culvert linking Tsakendze - Kefua in Kesu village, an open space workshop for the manufacture of compressed earth bricks, and build a bridge over river Moung to GS Nyio in Naikom.
