World Boxing Championship : Obelar Boycotts Tchoffo’s Title Defense

The competition took place on Friday December 23, 2022 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex in the presence of Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.

Thirteen instead of 14 fights were fought at the World Boxing Championship which held December 23, 2022 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports complex attended by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. The only fight that did not hold was the headline card of the competition organized by Champion United Boxing Academy (C.U.B.A). It was that which pitted Cameroonian-born France-based World Boxing Federation (WBF) International Middleweight champion Francis Tchoffo against Argentinian Juan Manuel Obelar. Unfortunately, Obelar did not show up for the fight, leaving the fans who thronged the arena in acute disappointment. Tchoffo thus missed the chance to defend his title for the first time since his victory last December in France when he scored a unanimous decision over Serbian Nikola Vlajkov.
According to the President of C.U.B.A, Innocent Tchuente, Obelar was lodged at the Somatel hotel in Yaounde and was effectively at the weight in on Thursday before the fight billed for Friday.
