Group E : Congo Eliminated

The Red Devils of Congo have been eliminated from the ongoing seventh edition of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN 2022) in Algeria. Congo played a 0-0 tie with Niger in their second group E game at the Miloud-Hadefi Stadium on Friday January 20, 2023. As a result, the Red Devils of Congo are now the second team to leave the competition for local players but they failed to create concrete chances. They however had some scoring opportunities but squandered them all.
At the third minute Prince Junior Soussou came close to scoring but goalkeeper Mamadou Tanja was quite alert to stop the danger. He saved this team from a goal at the 38th minute when he stopped a goal from Prince Sousso. Niger on their part were alert and aware of the task ahead of them. As such, they put up a strong fight but lost their chances. Both sides were unable to score despite the challenges ahead of them. The second half was stiffer with several scoring chances by the Congolese but they were squandered. Niger increased pressure on the Congolese and equally had a chance at the 53th minute but failed to score.  A goal at the 79th minute by the Red Devils of Congo was disallowed for an off-side position, 
The Congolese managed to score in the 79th minute, but to their great misfortune, the goal was disallowed for an offside position. No side was able to broke the stalemate despite several attempts by the two opposing teams. The match ended in a virgin tie forcing Congo to drop out...
