U-23 AFCON Qualifiers : Cameroon Stategises To Face Gabon

Twenty-five U-23 Lions have been shortlisted to begin training tomorrow Thursday January 26, 2023 ahead of the third and final round of the qualifiers in March.


Some 25 U-23 Lions have been shortlisted to begin bracing up ahead of the double-header against Gabon which counts for the third and final round of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The training is expected to begin tomorrow Thursday January 26, 2023 and to run till Friday February 3, 2023 at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo. It should be said that only local players were pre-selected for this training probably because it is not a FIFA free period and clubs are not obliged to liberate their players. Secondly, some of the Elite One players that could have been shortlisted for the training are defending the colours of Cameroon at the ongoing African Nations Championship in Algeria. 
Apart from players of the Elite One championship pre-selected, players of the Elite Two and amateur championships were equally shortlisted for the preparation. As for the amateur side, two players were shortlisted; goalkeeper Marcel Zambo (Nyom 2) and defender Henry Hiobi (AS Nylon). Two players were equally pre-selected from the Elite two championship including; defender Steve Yaho (Stade Bertoua) and midfielder Fred Kuate (Ofta of Kribi). In all, three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders and seven attackers were pre-selected for the camping.
