Mount Cameroon Race Of Hope : State Of Preparedness Presented

The Local Organising Committee shall meet again on February 15, 2023 to make final touches ahead of the event billed for February 25, 2023.

14 local organisation committees for the 28th edition of Mount Cameroon Race of Hope are already at work to give the event the grandeurs it deserves at its 50th anniversary come February 25, 2023 in Buea. The committees include Libation, Entertainment, Track cleaning, Medical, Porters and backers, Security committees etc. They met at the conference room of the South West Governor’s Office on Wednesday February 8, 2023, where they presented reports on their various activities being carried out. 
Andrew Eteki Njoh, President of South West Athletics Federations and Manager of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope, said they are in the process of selecting the best 100 athletes from the 257 that undertook the Test Race on January 21, 2023 to represent the South West Region. Applications for hostesses are streaming into the South West Athletics Federations’ office from where 30 candidates will be selected. Technical officials who shall supervise the race from Molyko Omnisport Stadium to summit are already in place. There is an ongoing process to select 500 porters meanwhile the track to the summit has been cleared. The sponsor, Orange Cameroon, on its part is already in the field. 
Edge Ignagius Edge, South West Regional Delegate for Sport and Physical Education, indicated that the selection of 500 secondary school students who will carry flags during the race at the Molyko Omnisport Stadium is ongoing.
