André Marie Dibamou : Courageous, Ambitious Youth

The 32-year-old is the National President of the Democratic Youth of Cameroon (JDC), a political party created in 2021.

The political landscape of Cameroon has the name of André Marie Dibamou inscribed in its history. He is the National President of the political party Democratic Youth of Cameroon (JDC). The 32-year-old created his political party in 2021, a platform which according to him is to bridge the gap that separates youths from politics. 
His motivation for creating the party stems from a failed attempt to get a political party accept him as a candidate for the 2020 legislative election. André Marie Dibamou further explains that it was impossible for him to get the required signatures needed for an independent candidate. As a result, his candidacy papers were rejected by Elections Cameroon. The disappointment thus gave him the inspiration and determination to create his own political party. “I created and founded the Democratic Youth of Cameroon (JDC) to fill the gap that separates youth from politics. I realised that even if young people want to get involved in politics, the age barrier, financial challenge, professional, social, cultural and traditional difficulties remain real obstacles. The JDC aims to democratize the political public space by decolonizing and demystifying it as much as possible to make it fertile for a new paradigm driven by the new generation.
