Marrakech Int’l Para Athletics Meeting : Cameroon Bags Five Medals

The three athletes who represented the country in the competition which recently ended in Morocco claimed two gold and three bronze medals.

Cameroon put up an encouraging performance at the 2023 International Para Athletics Meeting in Marrakech, Morocco. Represented by three visually-impaired athletes, the country harvested a total of five medals, two in gold and three in bronze in the competition which ran from March 9-12, 2023. Luc Yomby obtained gold in Shot Put F11 with a performance of 9m97. This puts him above the Minimum Qualification Standards to participate in the next World Para Athletics Championships and the Paralympic Games. The athlete equally obtained a bronze medal in the Discus Throw F11 with a performance of 20m.
Ndim Clement obtained gold in Discus Throw F11 with a performance of 28m77 but could not reach the Minimum Qualification Standards fixed at 29m. In Shot put, the athlete realised a performance of 9m64 and obtained a bronze medal. He equally obtained the Minimum Qualification Standards for the World Championships and Paralympic Games in this discipline. The National Technical Director at the Cameroon Visually-Impaired Federation, Gérard Mvogo however cautions that it is not time to rejoice as to what concerns qualification for the Paralympic Games ...
