Some newly appointed officials at the Bamenda Military Tribunal were installed into office on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Speaking during the installation ceremony which took place at the premises of the Bamenda Military Court, the Director of Military Justice in the Ministry of Defence, Dr Colonel Didier Sipa called on the incoming officials to fight against indiscipline and racketeering. He said some soldiers function as if they had come to look for money in the North West and that any recalcitrant behaviour will be henceforth dealt with. He however cautioned the officials to exercise a carrot and stick approach, that is sanction defaulters as well as reward good conduct. He said he was informed about all what is going on in Bamenda and that any complaint for unruly behaviour will be verified and if found guilty, sanctions will be meted out without any complaisance. He cautioned the soldiers to be aware that manhandling of some people could lead to the radicalisation of others. Before the installation, both the incoming and outgoing officials signed administrative documents and after the installation, he held a closed-door meeting with the new officials as well as granted audience to staff of the Military tribunal who wished to present their problems to him.
