Cameroon International Film Festival : Professionals Profess Peace At Sixth Rendez-Vous
Some 200 actors and producers were in Buea from 24 through 29 April to showcase know- how.
Bidoung Mkpatt, Cameroon’s Minister of Arts and Culture was in Buea, capital of the South West Region, on 29 April, 2023 to commune with national and international film makers during their sixth annual festival. He also officiated at the closing of a week-long film festival organised by the Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF). The Minister was accompanied by host Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai in the presence of the Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon, Her Excellency Lorraine Anderson.
On the occasion, the Minister called for concerted efforts to promote the film industry and make professionals live by their works. Bidoung Mkpatt held working sessions with the professionals of films to understand their plight of non-support, lack of cinema halls and the less measure of locals compared to other nationals. The Minister assured the movie lords of the Government continual support and protection to elevate and strengthen the mark of the Cameroon film craft.
