Safeguarding State Resources : Mechanisms With Positive Effects

Reducing delegation members for foreign missions, census on State workers, tightening conditions for the purchase of State cars have fetched the country billions for investment projects.

Challenged by limited resources to  meet up with the populations' needs, the government has adopted several measures to ensure available funds are judiciously used. This is to enable every citizen enjoys the benefits of public funds. Reducing unnecessary expenditure was again hammered on by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute at the last cabinet meeting for the month of April. He re-echoed the President of the Republic's directives on reducing State expenses.  However,  some mechanisms have  already been put in place as deliberations continue to better safeguard State resources.
Amongst these is the reduction of officials accompanying government Ministers abroad and other senior ranking officials. Such personalities are urged to take essential officials whose contribution and presence is paramount to the mission. In addition, there exist a document on those eligible to fly business class. This greatly reduces expenses which would have been spent on flights, accommodation and other logistics. The resources can thus be used for the construction of a community project. 
Another measure adopted is the constant census of State workers in the public service. This permits government to identify those who have died, travelled abroad or have gained other jobs. The census reveals the number of employers on government payroll to avoid the payment of ghost workers.  This mechanism enables the State to save FCFA one billion monthly, going by statistics produced for the period 2018-2020; money which was always used to pay ghost workers.
