Chad: Hepatitis E Outbreak Declared
Health authorities in Chad over the weekend declared a Hepatitis E outbreak in the south of the country that has so far claimed scores of lives. Media reports cited officials as calling for greater caution on the part of the people, while appealing for assistance from partners. The epidemic started in the last quarter of 2016 but has since become serious, especially in Salamat Region, the Minister of Public Health, Ngarmbatna Carmel Soukate, announced. The most affected district is Am-Timan, headquarters of Salamat Region.
