Sud Ladies Cup : Cameroon Picks Silver

The U20 Lionesses of Cameroon are runners up in the international friendly tournament that ended in d’Avignon, France, on Sunday May 21, 2023.

The national U20 women’s football team continues to lift the flag of Cameroon high in the international scene. The girls of Coach Josephine Ndoumou Mike finished on the second spot in an international friendly tournament called Sud Ladies Cup that ended at the Parc des Sports in d’Avignon, France, on Sunday May 21, 2023. The tournament is reserved for young women below 20 years. For six days, the ladies displayed rich talents in the sport. The U20 Lionesses of Cameroon put up an honourable performance in the competition. 
In three outings, the Lionesses won two matches. They lost their first game against Japan 3-0. During their second game, the Lionesses beat France 10-9 through penalties after the game ended 3-3 on regular time. Cameroon’s goals were scored by Brenda Tabe (45th minute), Ngaseh Mbele 49th minute and Marlene Essimi Ewoudou (66th minute). The U20 Lionesses edged Panama 3-1 in their third and last game on Sunday May 21. Brenda Tabe scored two goals and Kiki Meva scored one. After the victory against Panama, the Lionesses emerged as vice champions with five points. The Japanese U20 team was the first with a total of nine points and France ended on the third position.
