Enhancing Diplomatic Relations : French Ambassador Visits Buea

The French Ambassador to Cameroon H.E General Thierry Marchand visited the South West Region yesterday, 6 June, 2023 for the first time. The French diplomat paid a courtesy call to the South West Regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai in his Buea office. After more than an hour long discussion with the Governor, the French Ambassador told the press “When I took over as Ambassador to Cameroon last October 2022, I said to myself that I want to visit all the 10 regions of Cameroon. And so I am here in the South West Region because I want to have my own perception of what is happening on the ground. I need to explain to the population of the South West especially the youth that France is here and very sensitive to the problems happening in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon. We are committed to having influence and action so that peace can return to these regions for development to continue,” he stated, adding that they already have some engagements on the ground.
