Professional Clubs : Wrangling Lingers On

While ACEC held a GA in Yaounde yesterday June 15, 2023 to evaluate the season this far, the breakaway faction of the association equally held a concertation meeting same day in Douala.

The wrangling within the association of elite football clubs is deepening as the days go by. Yesterday June 15, 2023 was another hot day of the crisis where two crucial gatherings were held. The Cameroon Association of Elite Clubs known by its French acronym ACEC held an Ordinary General Assembly meeting in Yaounde while the breakaway faction of the association that has created a new body known as the Cameroon Association of Professional Football Club Presidents (ACFPC) held a concertation meeting in Douala.
The aim of the General Assembly meeting of ACEC was to evaluate the progress of the season this far, look at what went wrong and make recommendations where necessary to make football in the country better. It was revealed that about 15 clubs were represented in the General Assembly and according to them, the quorum was attained given that relegated teams and those suspended were not part of the General Assembly. The official resolutions were not handed to the press on hand but stakeholders promised to make them available in the days ahead.
On the other hand, the Cameroon Association of Professional Football Club Presidents (ACFPC) in a consultation meeting in Douala met to map out a way forward for the newly-created association. Among the resolutions of the meeting, are the independent audit of the funds allocated to professional clubs by government for the 2021/2022 football season as well...
