Abidjan African Open 2023 : Cameroon Grabs Six Medals

The athletes finished on the second spot winning two gold; one silver and three bronze medals.

Cameroonian judokas have won six medals at the just ended African Judo Open that ended at the Palais des sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday  June 18, 2023. Organised by the African Judo Federation the completion brought together 154 judokas from 27 countries in three continents. At After two days of intense competition Cameroon finished on the second spot winning two gold; one silver and three bronze medals. 
Cameroon and France were brackets on the second position with two gold medals each. Host country Cote d’Ivoire finished on top of the table with 16 medals; four gold, five silver and seven bronze medals. In the women’s -52kg Baba Matia Marie Céline beat Sinon Diodio (Senegal) to win gold in the junior competition. In the junior men’s 81kg category Bougueng Kombou Rayan beat Bamba Massoma Jr in the gold medal fight. Cameroon, Angola and France were brackets with two gold medals each. A total of 12 countries participated in the junior competition. They are Algeria, Angola, Burkina-Faso, Burundi, Cameroun, France, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Sierra-Leone and Côte d’Ivoire.
