AFROCAN 2023: Cameroon’s Progress In Jeopardy

After two consecutive defeats in the group phase, the team that finished bottom in Group D must win their quarterfinals qualification match against Tunisia/Morocco tomorrow.

C ameroon’s stay in the African Nations Basketball Championship dubbed AFROCAN ongoing in Angola is on a balance. The team lost all two matches in the group phase to finish bottom of Group D with two points. With this weak performance, they have just one last chance to determine if they will progress to the quarterfinals of the competition. They are expected to play their quarterfinals qualification game tomorrow July 12, 2023 against Morocco/Tunisia that finished second in Group C. Cameroon will have to improve their performance and present a picture different from what was seen in the first two matches. In the first match, the Basketball Intermediate Lions were defeated by defending champions, Democratic Republic of Congo on July 8, 2023. They lost the game 63- 70. They put up a spirited fight against their opponents who were evidently too strong. An intense first quarter was enough for both teams to get into the game.
